The game has taken me many places.
Voy a donde va el balón has been a motto I’ve attempted to chase every single time.
There’s no end, perseguiré el balón hasta que ya no me den las piernas, and although I’m not on the field running like the footballers that I see and talk to everyday, in my mind my running is continuous.
A lot has happened since I last wrote a post here, my home. De Lejitos has been, and will always be, my terreno. The place where every single journalistic dream of mine was created and were many of my dreams took off.
This past weekend I was in Philly, a place I called home for four straight years. Every time I go there, I’m reminded of moments that shaped my passion for the sport.
While in Villanova, I started writing blogs more often. I started watching and analyzing soccer differently. I have to admit that FC Barcelona played a definitive role in how I perceived the game. It was just too beautiful, too hard to not ignore.
My college days were marked by todos los días que reservé tiempo para ver el Barça. Time after time they won matches, but it wasn’t the winning that interested me, it was the how. Ese how que todavía es tan difícil de volver a ver.
In Philly, I made the decision to head to Madrid after graduating college para ver el fútbol español todos los días.
The 2013-2014 season became the season that Atlético Madrid conquistó la Liga and el Cholismo became a way of life. To follow Atleti’s successful season as a journalist has been one of the biggest gifts of my life.
The chance to interact with Atleti fans, players and staff are things I will always cherish. Estadio Vicente Calderón will always hold a special spot in my heart.
Atleti are once again on the verge of winning la Liga, and I wish them the best this weekend. This title will have a special feel to it as Héctor Herrera is part of the team. Tenemos representación mexicana en el club. 😎🇲🇽
My time around Atleti thought me one important thing that I will always carry with me.
I’ll always have that Nunca Dejes de Creer mentality.
